hi friends ! In my life, I never had this type of experience what I experienced today. That's why I wanted that I should share it with all of you. 3 weeks back GSLV Launch was abandoned because one of the strapon motors could not generate the required amount of thrust for lift off. Our Scientists worked day and night to resolve this problem and finally the date for relaunching the vehicle was set to 18th April. But frankly speaking, in our office (ISRO Satellite Center, Bangalore) also noone was so sure of the mission. Today we went to our auditorium at 2.45pm and the time for launching was set to 3.43pm. We were waiting patiently for the right time to come. When the count down clock showed 15 more mins to go, then the real tension began. As the time came near and near the auditorium became silent though it was containing around 1000 - 1500 people. Then it was the final moment... 10,9,8,7....3,2,1,0 - - - And Yes ! The rocket lifted up from the launch pad and started its journey. Oh God ! What a thrilling moment, the auditorium was filled with applause, whistling, everyone congratulating each other and so on... Then the total flight time was 18 mins and when the rocket was moving towards its destination working exactly in the predicted way, joy and happiness were crossing their bounds. Tear in every eye, smile on everybody's lips and pride on each individual's face. I am so excited, I really don't have enough words to express my feelings. Thousands of Scientists' hard work finally brought pride for the nation. Now India is among the very few countries in the world in excellent Space Technology. Now we don't have to depend on other nations for launching our satellites. In fact we can help other nations to launch thier satellites in space. Now really I feel very proud for being a part of this Organisation. Thank you all for reading such a long mail so patiently. Best wishes, Pragyan |
