THE DARKER MOON
They brought her to town with the hope of work,
With all her dignity she said"I will never shirk",
From the big town her village was far away,
And thus they made another girl their prey
She was locked in a dark dingy room,
"A prisoner i am" is what she assumed,
After two days the door opened,
Somebodty told her that she had been summoned.
She began to dance to many a beats,
And her posters were put up on the walls of most streets,
Oh how she cried all alone in pain
But noone did hear her, it was all in vain.
Each night she danced around poles in bars,
Instead of which she would love to watch the stars,
How she longed to find love and lead a simple life,
Or even ,be a normal man's gentle wife.
Finally she consoled herself that nothing could be done,
The battle was hopeless and nothing could be done.
She lived her life as if there were no tomorrow,
For she did not want to fill her present with sorrow
Donna writes poems as a hobby. She is also doing a degree in life science at Xavier's in Bombay !
