It requires new ways of thinking to survive here, in AMERICA.
You work for five days
a week. And all through the working days you look forward to the weekend .Weekend
arrives ...Arrives somewhere late in the afternoon.Coz friday night stretches till early
morning of saturday. One thing is proved -although total number of hours in a week are 7
>< 24 but all the days don't have equal number of hours.
"Time doen't love being
on the move ....just here" i ponder sometimes but then i realize that if you are on
the move TIME just passes away. That's it. Be on the move in the STATES.. never
let yourself be idle here--you start getting sentimental,home-sick,longing for your
friends and all that americans are not aware of. If you happen to be alone for some hours
you feel like ending your life. freak out ..join others..go out swimming, play tennis,...go
to discos,movies,,restaurants...anywhere but for your own sake...don't stay alone.Life is
fun here....atleast you pretend that well...as long as you are young and your wallet
permits. That's the reason why Thomas wilson loves being called, wears colourful
clothes, goes out on date...well hates being realized he's 65.If you are not on the move
,better pack off. No place for you dear.
you start looking for a date even before you get the much
awaited divorce. You start planning for weekends before they arrive. You insure things
before you buy. You start staying away from your parents before you leave high
school. Go to a rehab centre .Pay for silly advices you get.Live in with your
girlfriend for years before you decide she's not the gal for you or the other way
round....it's a murky world here.
Americans
are tuned to perform. To succeed. You got to pay a price for being professional. You have
to forget about Indian familial ways.Forget about attachment,sentiments...forget roots.A
role that not every Indian can play.Americans have paid a price for being courageous,
enterprising,optimistic. America is a superpower today.no doubt!!!!
But then I'd argue there are hoardes of things bad
about India. Yeah there are ! But i can't help being biased. I just can't keep India
out of my mind.
I am turning into a Trishanku(indian catch 22;-))
...coz i am unable to decide where's heaven and where's hell
.
I am paying the
price!!!! |
