                                    BRYAN LIVE!! ME DEAD??

                                                                                                          Megha Shanbhag

Well I had never been to a live concert before, there haven't been too many in India and whenever there was one I had tests or classes. So the idea of hearing Bryan live was pretty exciting. On the actual day of the concert things couldn't have gone worse….
Four hours before the concert we realized that all who were supposed to go were down to three from the initial six, the others didn't get tickets. So it was only Suchi, Anuraj and myself. Since Anuraj had to give an IIT exam that day , Suchi and me decided we would go there early and Anuraj would meet us directly at the venue. That was a bad decision since it was impossible for anyone to meet in that crowd of maybe 30,000! But the two of us had a great time, well at least initially. We pushed our way right upto the front and were having a good time. Bryan came on stage about an hour later but by end of 90 minutes we were about to collapse, we were dehydrated and famished, we were forced to leave the crowd and move back or we would certainly have fainted. When we reached those water stalls we are told there is no water, great !! So now what? We had to buy Pepsi or something. It never tasted better. We felt fit enough to move back and listen to his last few songs. By 10:00 pm the show was over but our troubles were not.
While waiting for the crowd to move out I lost the purse which had all our money and we were there with no familiar face around us. We didn't know how to get home. If Anuraj had met us it wouldn't have been a problem, he had a car. Well we decided to walk up to the station. But after going 10 metres down that lonely road we ran back on to the highway. To make matters worse Suchi had cramps. I didn't know what to do!! I saw a van full of college kids parked in front and I don't know what made me go up to them and ask for a lift, but I did and it was good that I did because we were given a lift till the airport from where we walked up to Suchi's place. Since the building gates were locked we had to climb the walls and enter. By that time it was almost 1:00 am and we were beat. I decided to sleep right there.
Well it doesn't seem such a big deal now but that night all by ourselves on the highway, we were pretty nervous. Everything was well in the end, we even got our money back (some good fellow picked it up and called to return the purse). But even after all this I'm still game for another concert…
