I react very explicitly when a junk mail ,otherwise called spam reaches me.
I mostly reply back saying you better stop this or forget about mailing me .And very genuinely so !
I don't know how people tolerate spams . And if you tell them to stop , they brand you as
everything from "arrogant" to "hyper-reactive" . I can't help it I really get disgusted
when an un necessary mail comes to .Just because the guy who never sends it sends it
for the heck of it !
If you reply back to the guys complaining about the crap some of
them even write back and suggest why dont you just delete the mails and "Shut Up" .
This is almost the most disgusting reply I ever got as a responsible Mailer (a new coinage).
I mailed and complained to this idiot ,who incidentally happens to be a non-Indian ,"HI, I am getting
too many mails and trust me it is inconvenient for me !"
And the disgusting reply was
"You poor thing - you should get a secretary to read all your emails- you
seem like a busy and important man "
And I ofcourse didnot reply him back .I am more responsible .
And what I did ? I just called him up and said
"Hey listen , How does it matter if I am important or not ? I am the guy who decides how many mails
are enough for me ! "
Yeah I do have the right to decide ! So does every netizen(A guy who has entered the wonderful
world of Internet ) . How long can we suffer ?
When i say "Suffer" it's an under-statement . It is actually a torment . A torture !
The incident turned ugly . I can't mail him anymore .But then it's okay .
I don't mind getting rid of an immature idiot, who is 50 or so and ofcourse relieved
that I am not getting his utter unimportant and highly frequent mails .
I don't know if the incident was a lesson fr the "Idiot" .If it served to be one ,
I am happy . If it doesnot well my mission has been accomplished .Getting rid of him
has been no less than a proper type mission after all .As such I am writing all this
not to educate others . It's just out of sheer frustration .I sincerely beleive I am not
over-reacting .
You get all sorts of e-mail spams .Ranging from wildest of rumours to annoying
future forecasts to cards for occasions you never heard of and what not .
Ask the guy who sends you the disgusting mails .It's not I don't send mails or hate receiving mails.
I am far away from my people and friends and I feel very happy to receive a mail .
And i always make it a point to reply back .But genuine mails please .
What amazes me most is people who should be more responsible (namely guys in IT industry),
people who are well aware of Internet Traffic send the maximum number of mails .
If you are so bent upon sending the "disgusting" mails why don't you send a postcard !
Trouble the postal department . Just because internet is a free medium ,for heaven's sake,
don't bother others (not me atleast) and congest the Net .
